چکیده

Plastic pollution of the natural environment is ubiquitous, and around 40% all plastic waste produced globally used in single-use products only 9% recycled. From this waste, expandable polystyrene pose a major problem because its great volume low density. To abord issue, authors proposed circular economy model for EPS post-consumer 2019 through case study with help one local manufacturer. Although idea promoting circularity seems priori to have good impact on environment, process reincorporate reused and/or recycled materials under concept CE economic environmental impacts that should be measured. understand if recycling truly beneficial first we need do sustainability analysis, using indicators, such as Carbon Footprint (CF) Water (WF). The objective present paper perform analysis into resin pellets CF WF indicators. We three scenarios considering an artisanal (A), 2027 electricity power mix (B), industrial current (C) use virgin PS destination landfill compare. measured CO2 emissions m3 freshwater SimaPro 9.1 software. Overall, total A B are approximately 42% 16% higher than scenario D, but C exhibits reduction almost 50%. For water depletion, show very values those D 536% 534%, respectively. Important mention presents much better A, meaning increase share production by renewable energies can improve sustainable resin.

Expanded polystyrene (EPS) floats for surveillance of Ochlerotatus japonicus.

Blocks of expanded polystyrene (EPS) were placed in a variety of habitats to investigate their potential as an egg-collection device for container-dwelling Aedes and Ochlerotatus species. Eggs from Ochlerotatus japonicus, Oc. triseriatus, Oc. hendersoni, and Aedes albopictus were collected with EPS floats. The float provides an inexpensive, low-maintenance alternative to the Centers for Disease...

Implication of expanded polystyrene and shredded waste polystyrene to control Anopheles spp, Bandar Abbas and Chabahar, Iran

Introduction: Due to insecticide resistance, environmental pollution and difficulty in biological control, usage of conventional larval control measures are not applicable in mosquito breeding places. As part of Integrated Vector Management program, we aimed to asses the effectiveness of two polystyrene beads types for Anopheles spp larvae control under laboratory, semi-field and field cond...
